Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and flexible Payments Officer to join our dynamic and innovative working environment at Equiti Group. As a Payments Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering a great experience for our internal teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deposit and Withdrawal Processing: Process and monitor all deposits and withdrawals requests from various sources, including banks, e-banking, e-wallets, cards, and exchange houses.
  • Indemnification and Credit Processing: Process and monitor indemnification requests and urgent credits to ensure the protection of clients' margins.
  • Client Support: Assist internal and external clients with major queries and requests related to payments and account transactions.
  • Portal Guidance: Provide clients with guidance on how to use their portal to deposit, withdraw, or perform internal transfers between accounts.
  • Complaint Handling: Handle client complaints in a professional manner, follow up with concerned departments or PSPs, and ensure audit or escalation to completion.
  • Technical Issues: Report technical issues and pursue to completion.
  • Handovers and Reconciliation: Prepare necessary handovers for morning shifts, including withdrawal batches, tickets, and any issues that require action. Assist with the preparation of the daily payment reconciliation report to ensure no misappropriation.
  • Compliance and Risk: Carry out various identification checks to comply with anti-money-laundering regulations.
  • Ad-hoc Queries and Reports: Assist seniors and management with all ad-hoc queries, reports, and investigations.
  • Follow-up and Confidentiality: Follow up with banks and PSPs on missing payments or related issues, and handle confidential information in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
Requirements
  • Self-Starter: Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Management and Attention to Details: Excellent management and attention to details.
  • Communication and Relationship Building: Aptitude for building relationships and ability to communicate on complex issues.
  • Language and Technical Skills: Fluent in spoken and written Swahili and English, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office, computer operation, and experience with Excel formulas.
  • Adaptability and Teamwork: Able to multi-task, determine priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced business environment. Has capacity to adapt to the changing market environment and work well under pressure.
  • Discretion and Flexibility: Discretion in handling sensitive information and able to adjust easily to any new product and payment method on boarded by the company.
  • Experience and Qualifications: Business-related bachelor's degree, ACCA/CPA qualification will be an added advantage. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills in English and Swahili. 3 years of experience in finance/accounting/banking.
