Optimiza is in search of a Database Administrator with a specialization in PostgreSQL to enhance our database management team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in managing, optimizing, and securing PostgreSQL databases. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee our PostgreSQL environment and contribute to the design and implementation of robust data solutions that drive our business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Tune PostgreSQL database performance, manage storage allocations, and optimize queries.
  • Implement data backups and recovery procedures, guaranteeing data integrity and availability.
  • Develop database documentation, including architecture diagrams, processes, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with application teams to ensure efficient database access and integration with software applications.
  • Monitor database health and performance metrics to provide timely troubleshooting and enhancements.
  • Ensure database security best practices are enforced and conduct regular security audits.
  • Stay abreast of PostgreSQL advancements and industry best practices, proposing relevant upgrades and modifications.
  • Mentor junior database administrators, fostering knowledge sharing and skill development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on PostgreSQL.
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, including indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
  • Proficient in SQL and PL/pgSQL for advanced querying and stored procedures.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL replication, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted PostgreSQL databases and related tools (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex database-related issues.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • PostgreSQL certifications or related credentials are a plus.
