JOB TITLE: Logistics Assistant - Warehouse
TYPE OF CONTRACT/GRADE: Service Contract - SC5
UNIT/DIVISION: Supply Chain
DUTY STATION: Amman, Jordan
DURATION: 1 year with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Following the escalation of hostilities in October 2023, WFP scaled up operations to serve nearly 1.1 million beneficiaries with food assistance inside Gaza. WFP has since been using various corridors to deliver food assistance into Gaza, including Jordan corridor. Even after 2 year of the escalation of the hostilities, the situation inside Gaza remains critical, requiring continued humanitarian and emergency support to support the essential needs of the people inside Gaza.
Jordan corridor represents a significant corridor to supply critical humanitarian aid into Gaza, including essential items to support the staff and office needs inside Gaza. WFP delivers between 4,500 – 5,000 MT of critical food and non-food items every month into Gaza through various entry points. With the ceasefire and Gaza peace plan under implementation since October 2025, Jordan corridor is required to scale up operations to augment the delivery of assistance into Gaza.
Jordan corridor serves as a critical logistics lifeline, enabling Government-to-Government and Back-to- Back convoys, staging, warehousing, quality control, and dispatch of high-priority humanitarian cargo. To ensure safe, timely, and accountable delivery of assistance, WFP manages complex warehouse and transport operations, working closely with national authorities, service providers, and regional stakeholders.
The incumbent, under the supervision of Logistics Officer for Warehousing shall support daily receipt, handling, storage, and dispatch activities within the Jordan Corridor, contributing to the overall efficiency, integrity, and continuity of the Gaza response supply chain.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure accurate receipt, handling, storage, and dispatch of commodities, including transshipments, fully aligned with approved documentation (waybills, GRNs, GDNs) and WFP quality standards.
- Timely coordination with handling companies/service providers, ensuring availability of labor, equipment, and operational support for all warehouse activities.
- Accurate accounting of warehousing operations, with operational trackers consistently updated to support monthly financial closure and corporate reporting requirements.
- Monitor the condition of the warehouse and commodities and take appropriate actions to support efficient warehouse space-planning and well-organized commodity storage following WFP warehouse standards
- Updated stock reports issued after each inbound and outbound transaction; stack cards updated immediately to reflect accurate, real-time commodity movements.
- Inventory discrepancies, losses, or damages identified, analysed, documented, and reported within 24 hours, including loss reports with recommended corrective actions.
- Pest control service provision monitored and tracked against contracted frequency, with gaps or issues escalated promptly.
- Warehouse and transport documents reviewed, verified, signed, and filed; warehouse records maintained in real time to ensure complete, audit-ready documentation.
- Ensure loading plans are implemented according to approved convoy lists, truck sequence, and destination requirements, confirming accurate allocation of commodity types, quantities, and pallet configurations.
- Monitor seal application, vehicle condition, and overall dispatch readiness, ensuring trucks meet handover requirements for authorities, escorts, or designated crossing points, depending on the convoy modality.
- Daily warehouse and commodity inspections completed, with anomalies reported and follow-up actions coordinated as instructed by the supervisor.
- Monthly physical inventory counts coordinated and facilitated, with verified count results, reconciliations, challenges, and recommendations submitted and filed in line with IPSAS and WFP standards.
- Weekly warehouse and commodity inspection reports validated, including sampling and compliance checks when services are provided by an external warehouse operator.
- Support post-dispatch follow-up by confirming truck departure times, seal numbers, and documentation handover, ensuring accurate and timely reflection of convoy status in movement control systems.
- Any other duties as assigned.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- WFP food stocks are managed appropriately as per WFP's standards in warehouses and dispatch targets are met as per the Palestine operational requirements.
- WFP stocks are appropriately accounted for, including reflecting all transactions in LESS and in warehouse documentation.
- Updated operational trackers for receipts, dispatches, stock balances, losses, pallet manifests, convoy loading progress, and financial closure inputs.
- Complete transporter coordination file, including vehicle availability logs, loading schedules, rerouting or replacement documentation, and communication records.
- Summary of operational challenges, risks, lessons learned, and recommendations for improving warehouse handling and convoy loading processes.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Desired Experiences: Minimum five years of progressively professional working experience in the following technical knowledge:
- Experience in managing warehouses in large-scale or complex emergencies.
- Experience in handling different types of food and non-food items, including palletized cargo.
- Experience in food re-packaging and reconditioning process.
- Experience in coordinating with authorities.
- Experience with logistics and transport documentation.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic
