This role is part of our Middle East team, which supports our operations through strategic linkages and actions with external networks, including political, humanitarian, medical, and civil society organizations.

The MENA HRT team consists of the MENA Humanitarian Representative (coordinator), the Humanitarian Representative for the Levant, and a Humanitarian Representative based in Türkiye.

Representation and Networking:

  • Develop key contacts for the MSF movement and operations across the region.
  • Identify humanitarian issues of concern for MSF and develop advocacy/representation efforts.
  • Propose diplomatic strategies linked to regional conflicts:

\u2022 Identify medical and humanitarian issues of concern to MSF.

\u2022 Identify diplomatic opportunities or create them.

\u2022 Prepare humanitarian diplomacy, representation rounds, and talking points.

  • Use diplomacy and representation opportunities to communicate MSF's identity and improve its perception in the region.
  • Convey messages developed by operations or facilitate access to relevant actors in the region for MSF representatives.
  • Design, relay, or implement MSF global advocacy initiatives on relevant topics.

Support to the HRT MENA Representative:

  • Provide backup support to the HRT MENA Representative when priority issues arise or in their absence.
  • Handle part of the intersectional work (facilitate Interdesk).

Analysis:

  • Provide updates, information, and analysis on key bodies in the region related to humanitarian issues and MSF's interventions.
  • Reflect on major humanitarian and policy changes in the region, analyze, and document reflection to inform MSF's situational analysis.
  • Draft/produce written materials to convey MSF messages and analysis.

Extensive experience with MSF required.

Master's degree or equivalent, or six to ten years related experience and/or training.

Demonstrated interest in humanitarian action and MSF's principles.

Demonstrated knowledge of international humanitarian affairs and diplomatic networks in the Middle East and Arabic and Muslim societies/countries.

Strategic vision and creativity in problem-solving.

Knowledge of basic provisions of International Humanitarian and Human Rights Law.

Ability to synthesize complex material and analyze/report cogently.
