Deputy Director Job Description

As a key member of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) team, the Deputy Director will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Amman office. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively manage the office space, implement relevant guidelines, and foster a diverse and positive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Serve as primary leadership contact for the delivery of SSU services in the Amman office, promoting a culture of staff well-being, personal productivity, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Office Management: Provide overall management of the office space, ensuring allocation of space and implementation of relevant guidelines to create a diverse and positive working environment.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Serve as Amman office Communications focal point on all matters related to facilities and shared services, ensuring key decisions and announcements are well disseminated to staff and feedback is captured.
  • Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement: Partner and collaborate with relevant teams and units to ensure necessary tools, information, and technology are available for the Amman Office Shared Services teams and hosted staff.
  • Host Government Relations: Establish good working relationships with relevant government departments to ensure Amman Office operations follow host government regulations and the terms of IRC's Host Agreement.
  • Policy Implementation: Ensure IRC Global initiatives, strategies, and policies are adequately implemented and maintained.
  • Policy Development: Guide regular updates of GREWS global policy and procedural documents, coordinating with leadership of other IRC offices in Amman to ensure policies are consistent and aligned with IRC standard policies.
  • Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations for updating/revising existing policies and procedures to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in operations.
