Legal Manager
About the position:
The position involves supporting the Head of Legal in advising the cluster and factory (domestic, export, and Sheesha) on legal and regulatory matters. The role aims to ensure compliance while achieving business objectives by effectively managing legal risks.
Main areas of responsibility:
Legal Advisory
- Collaborate with the Head of Legal to provide business-oriented legal advice, including:
- High-profile commercial law matters
- Support for various functions and external counsel coordination
- Corporate governance and product manufacturing legal guidance
Project Management
- Lead legal projects, including sensitive employment law matters, providing support to management across the Cluster.
Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts (purchasing, marketing, employment, distribution, service agreements) and provide related legal advice and training.
Product Regulation
- Advise on product regulations, ensure compliance, and review marketing materials.
Training
- Develop and deliver training on competition law, sanctions, commercial law, and other relevant topics.
Litigation & Arbitration
- Support the Head of Legal in litigation and arbitration matters.
Budget Management
- Assist with budget management for the legal department.
Requirements:
- B.A in law or its equivalent from a reputable university (required).
- LLM from a common law jurisdiction (desirable).
- Admitted as a lawyer with the Jordan Bar Association (required).
- A qualified lawyer with at least 5 years first class experience from a top tier or regional firm, or in-house with an FMCG company, ideally with experience in advising on commercial contracts, regulatory matters. Experience in handling contentious matters (highly desirable).
- Advanced level of both written and oral English, particularly sufficient level for communicating/handling legal matters. Good level of computer skills.
- Communication, decision making, analysis & problem solving, interpersonal skills, relationship building, time management.
