Commercial Manager

Job Summary:
The Commercial Manager is responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy of the shipping company. This includes managing relationships with clients, optimizing revenue streams, and ensuring the company's competitive positioning in the market. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the shipping industry, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record in sales and business development.
Key Responsibilities:- Market Analysis and Strategy Development:
- Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
- Develop and implement commercial strategies that align with company goals and market demands.
- Monitor market conditions and adjust strategies as necessary to maintain a competitive edge.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for major clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients to secure business and maximize profitability.
- Sales and Revenue Optimization:
- Develop sales plans and targets, and monitor performance against these targets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's client base.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and manage the commercial team, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Work closely with operations and logistics teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Optimize pricing strategies and service offerings to maximize profitability.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the commercial budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Monitor financial performance and implement measures to achieve financial targets.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management, outlining commercial performance and strategic recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial or sales role within the shipping or logistics industry.
- Strong understanding of the shipping industry, including market dynamics and regulatory environment.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proven ability to develop and execute successful commercial strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Ability to travel as required.
