Job Summary

The Judicial Institution Capacity Building Specialist will work with the Institutional Capacity team in the design and implementation of interventions to strengthen the capacity of judicial institutions to improve case management and prosecution of cases of violence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership
    • Lead all technical activities to support the capacity of judicial institutions under Outcome 1, IR 1.A.
    • Directly supervise the work of subcontractors, consultants, and grantees implementing activities under her/his technical area.
  • Capacity Building and Technical Assistance
    • Develop technical scope of works for ISF projects, grants processes, and consultants and monitor the implementation of these mechanisms in close collaboration with the Operations team.
    • Act as the day-to-day point of contact of DAI with justice institutions counterparts in close coordination with the Institutional Capacity Lead, DCOP, and COP.
  • Technical Innovations and Knowledge Management
    • Design innovations for technical interventions to strengthen the capacity of justice institutions to investigate, prosecute, and resolve violence cases based on regional and local best practices.
    • Provide input on her/his activities to draft Annual Work Plans, and the project's reports as requested.
    • Document DAI's best practices in her/his technical area and participate in knowledge management processes to identify and internalize lessons learned in the implementation of the project.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in law, public administration, and other related areas, with at least 6 years of progressive professional experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Jordan criminal justice, law enforcement, and social services institutions.
  • Experience working in institutional capacity building projects in Jordan or in the Middle East region.
  • Leadership, interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills; ability to interact effectively with government counterparts.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Independent, but capable of following guidance and transforming it into action.
  • Comfortable operating in a multicultural environment and with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in complex, politically challenging, and unstable environments.
  • Professional proficiency in English and Arabic, required.
