BACKGROUND


The Jordan Economic Reform Activity Task Order 1 (ERA) is a 5-year, $54 million program funded by USAID, which aims to support the Government of Jordan (GOJ) to prioritize and implement economic reforms.

Through coordination with the GOJ, the Jordanian and international private sector, other donors, and Jordanian civil society, ERA will (1) advance economic reforms, (2) strengthen the business enabling environment, (3) increase exports and local, regional, and international investments, and (4) respond to emerging priorities.

II. Objectives


In the context of advancing the goals set forth by the National Export Strategy (NES), the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply (MoITS) recognizes the critical importance of fostering continuous learning and knowledge-sharing within priority industries, as identified in the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV).

The global landscape of trade is evolving rapidly, with emerging challenges and opportunities that demand a proactive and informed approach by sector stakeholders.


The Export Learning Series will comprise approximately three events and emerges as a strategic response to bridge existing knowledge gaps and empower key stakeholders including, but not limited to, MoITS, industry and trade chambers and export associations, within priority industries.

By delving into specific technical topics such as research and development, economic complexity, and other pivotal aspects, this initiative seeks to equip industry players with the insights and tools necessary to navigate the complexities of international trade successfully.

Furthermore, the NES emphasizes the role of informed decision-making in propelling Jordanian exports to new heights.

The Export Learning Series serves as a catalyst for cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within priority industries.

In doing so, it contributes to building a robust foundation that not only enhances the competitiveness of Jordanian businesses in the global market but also fosters resilience in the face of evolving trade dynamics.


By investing in knowledge-sharing and awareness-building activities, the NES aims to create a sustainable framework for long-term success in priority industries.

This initiative aligns with broader national objectives, promoting economic growth, job creation, and positioning Jordan as a dynamic player in the global trade arena.

III. DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES

Task 1:
Needs Assessment and Topic Selection

Collaborate (i.e.

identify and meet) with stakeholders (MoITS, industry and trade chambers, export associations, priority sector leaders) to discern knowledge gaps within priority industries according to the EMV/NES and determine relevant technical topics for the Export Learning Series.


Task 2:
Content Development and Event Planning


The consultant shall prepare comprehensive event plans for each learning series event to be conducted, to be shared with ERA 21 days (3 weeks) before the event.

The event plans shall include, at a minimum, a comprehensive list of topics to be discussed, a draft agenda, an invitation draft, a proposed list of invitees, speaking points, and potential speakers.

ERA will support logistical arrangements and planning, in coordination with the consultant.

Based on the technical topics and sectors identified in Task 1, collaborate with subject matter experts at Jordan Exports (JE), MoITS, and Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) to create engaging and informative content for each learning session.

The content shall align with the technical needs of priority industries and support export initiatives. The learning session content shall be shared with ERA for approval two weeks prior to the event.

Task 3:
Content Delivery


The identified consultant will facilitate and present the material at the learning sessions, ensuring that the delivery is engaging and informative.

This may include learning modalities such as breakout groups, fireside chats, presentations, etc.

He/she will be expected to develop and deliver a pre- and post-session survey to evaluate the value-add of the sessions.

V. JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field.

5 to 7 years of experience with technical topics in research and development, economic complexity, and their relevance to exports.

Proven track record in planning and coordinating knowledge-based events.
Strong background in developing engaging and informative content for educational sessions.
Ability to convey technical concepts clearly to a diverse audience.

VI. LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT

This assignment is to be conducted in Amman.

VII. REPORTING

The consultant will report directly to the Export Component Lead.
