Public Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Specialist to join our team in the fight against polio. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to global health and contribute to the eradication of a disease that has been a major public health threat for centuries.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to countries in their efforts to eradicate polio. This will involve working closely with national authorities, international partners, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies to interrupt wild poliovirus transmission and conduct surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis (AFP).
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide technical guidance and support to countries on the development and implementation of polio eradication strategies
- Collaborate with national authorities, international partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen AFP surveillance and response capacity
- Develop and implement plans to reduce the risk of polio outbreaks and improve outbreak response capabilities
- Maintain accurate records and reports of all activities and outcomes related to polio eradication
- Stay up-to-date with the latest scientific research and developments in the field of polio eradication and share knowledge with colleagues and partners
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- A university degree in medicine, public health, or a related field
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in public health, including experience in disease eradication, immunization, or infectious disease control
- Significant experience in managing large-scale public health programs involving immunization and working with international organizations and/or non-governmental organizations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with governments, international partners, and other stakeholders
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
- An annual base salary starting at $84,672
- A variable post adjustment reflecting the cost of living in the duty station
- 30 days of annual leave
