The World Bank Group seeks an Investment Officer to join its Financial Institutions Group in Amman, Jordan. This is a critical role that requires the right candidate with expertise in finance, investment, and banking.

As an Investment Officer, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for managing investments in fragile and conflict-affected markets across the Middle East. Your primary responsibility will be to identify and execute new investment transactions, working closely with clients, regulators, and stakeholders.

You will need to demonstrate strong financial and credit skills, as well as the ability to structure a variety of financial instruments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential for building relationships with clients, partners, and government officials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and lead the execution of FIG sector investment projects primarily in Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to further develop the sector and identify specific investment opportunities.
  • Lead portfolio supervision of multiple portfolio projects across different asset classes.
  • Use financial competencies and influencing skills to overcome impasses and lead negotiations to a successful outcome.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • MBA or equivalent master's degree in finance or management.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in finance, investment, and/or banking.
  • Experience in working with one or more of the mentioned FCS markets.
  • Strong financial and credit skills; demonstrated ability to structure a variety of financial instruments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the financial industry; ability to identify trends and opportunities in the Middle Eastern countries.
  • Ability to build a strong network within the financial sector.
