Line of Service Overview At PwC, our people in tax services focus on providing advice and guidance to clients on tax planning, compliance, and strategy. These individuals help businesses navigate complex tax regulations and optimise their tax positions. Business Unit Overview We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design and build intelligent automation solutions for Tax & Legal Services, including document processing pipelines, compliance-checking systems, and RAG-based retrieval over multilingual regulatory data. This role requires a high degree of ownership, where the engineer will independently take solutions from concept to production. You will be responsible for architecture decisions, technology selection, and end-to-end delivery of AI solutions. The primary focus is on AI systems, data pipelines, and cloud deployment, with frontend development limited to lightweight user interfaces for prototyping and internal tools. The role spans backend API development, LLM integration, and deployment on Azure, with an emphasis on building scalable, production-grade AI systems. How You’ll Contribute Programming Advanced proficiency in Python (FastAPI or similar frameworks). Ability to design scalable backend systems and services. Working knowledge of TypeScript is a plus. APIs & Integrations Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs. Familiarity with authentication mechanisms such as OAuth2 / JWT and Azure Entra ID. Experience integrating with external enterprise systems is a plus. LLM & RAG Systems (Core Focus) Proven experience building and deploying production-grade LLM applications, including:
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
- Document chunking, embedding strategies, and metadata handling
- Hybrid retrieval (vector + keyword), re-ranking, and evaluation
- Prompt engineering and optimization
- Familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Semantic Kernel
- Understanding of agentic workflows and orchestration
- Design and implement evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy, grounding, and reliability of LLM outputs Data & Storage Systems Experience with:
- Vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Azure AI Search)
- SQL and NoSQL databases and datalakes
- Designing efficient data access and retrieval strategies What You’ll Bring
- Experience with Databricks or similar data engineering platforms
- Experience with knowledge graphs (e.g., Neo4j) for advanced retrieval or entity mapping
- Prior experience in regulated industries (Tax, Legal, Financial Services)
- Experience with Azure AI Document Intelligence or similar document extraction tools
