Context

Under the overall supervision of the Regional Crisis Coordinator in Amman, the direct supervision of the Media and Communications Officer, and, in collaboration with relevant units, the Senior Data Visualization Associate will support the planning, coordination, implementation of design-related tasks.

Responsibilities
  1. Support the programme in the planning, coordination, implementation of communication and visualization materials, including audio-visual products.

  2. Apply user-friendly formats, layout and visual standards to publications, reports and information products in line with IOM branding, visual, and graphic guidelines.

  3. Translate data into graphic elements, including infographics and visual summaries.

  4. Format and visually adapt information and communication materials based on inputs provided by programme and reporting teams.

  5. Prepare storytelling material, including social media graphics, videos and animations for external purposes, following IOM branding guidelines.

  6. Prepare interactive products and maps, including video animations, based on programme needs and available data.

  7. Prepare presentations, slides, visual narratives in accordance with programme requirements.

  8. Perform required data analysis for visualization and reporting purposes and update outputs based on requests from the reporting team.

  9. Gather and research information to support the preparation of communication and visualization content.

  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma with six years of relevant experience; or,

  • Bachelor's degree in visual arts and design or any relevant field or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
  Experience
  • Experience in various aspects of graphic and visual production, including infographics and data visualization.

  • Proven experience in digital visual communication products.

  • Proven experience in graphic production from start to published/printed product, including familiarity with printing processes and color management.

  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

Proven skills and experience using design and audio-visual software, such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe AfterEffects and other graphic design and video software.

Languages For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written). IOM's official languages are English, French and Spanish. Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.   Required Competencies   IOM's competency framework can be found at this link.
