Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and versatile Handyman S2 to join our team at the Department for Business and Trade. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our estate, including the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, fixtures, and fittings, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Facilities Management: Oversee the upkeep of the estate, including grounds maintenance, cleaning, and waste management.
- Project Work: Assist with small-scale projects, such as painting, decorating, and minor carpentry works.
- Health and Safety: Ensure a safe working environment by identifying and mitigating risks, adhering to health and safety protocols, and reporting incidents.
- Communication and Engagement: Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of facilities-related activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices within the facilities team.
- Technical Skills: Possess a range of technical skills, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and painting and decorating.
- Health and Safety: Hold relevant health and safety certifications and demonstrate a strong understanding of safety protocols.
- Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely and efficient manner.
This is a full-time position, working 37 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the department.
