Job Title: Health Policy Specialist NOC FTA Amman-Jordan

UNFPA is seeking a highly skilled Health Policy Specialist to join our team in Amman-Jordan. As a key member of our Country Office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of UNFPA projects in the areas of sexual reproductive health and rights.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Policy Support
    • Utilize existing research and evidence to inform UNFPA's programme on sexual reproductive health and rights.
    • Assess the feasibility, acceptability, and sustainability of reproductive health and family planning policies and programs.
    • Develop and apply economic models to assess the costs and benefits of sexual and reproductive health interventions.
    • Communicate research findings and policy recommendations to relevant audiences.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in health policy and participate in professional fora.
  • Technical Expertise/Management
    • Position UNFPA's mandate within national policies and strategies.
    • Develop policy briefs and position papers to articulate the linkages between reproductive health and rights and economic development.
    • Strengthen national capacity for implementing UNFPA's programme in Jordan.
    • Provide technical assistance to national partners on policy development and system strengthening.
  • Advocacy and Resource Mobilization
    • Participate in advocacy and resource mobilization efforts of the country office.
    • Provide substantive inputs to project proposals and reports.
    • Build strong technical and programme partnerships for advocacy on the ICPD agenda.
  • Results-based Programming
    • Oversee the implementation of the SRH programme and projects.
    • Establish partnerships with executing agencies and government counterparts.
    • Ensure effective knowledge management and monitoring and oversight mechanisms.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as public health, health policy, or international development.
  • At least 5 years of experience in health policy and programme management.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and build partnerships with government, civil society, and other stakeholders.
