We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Backend Systems team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for guiding the development of our scalable SaaS product, working closely with our world-class security team to deliver a safe and reliable experience for our customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a remote team of engineers in your time zone, fostering a healthy and collaborative engineering culture aligned with our company values.
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development, ensuring the growth and success of your team members.
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Be an active part of the leadership team, collaborating with other leaders to drive the company's vision and strategy forward.
  • Work with your team to build clean web service APIs supporting both CLI and web frontend clients, utilizing Python and optionally Golang.
  • Engage with various teams at Canonical, as well as the open-source community and commercial partners, to drive innovation and success.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in leading modern, agile software development practices, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality software.
  • Experience in forming a healthy, collaborative engineering culture, with a demonstrated ability to model sound engineering principles and contribute to team goals.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events, with a passion for mentoring, developing, and growing people.
  • Strong knowledge and passion for software development, with a focus on success and timely delivery of high-quality software.
  • Experience with Linux system administration and effective written and verbal communication skills.
