Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Global Governance Specialist to join our team in Amman, Jordan. In this role, you will be responsible for growing and leading our work on governance in the Arab States region, with a focus on strengthening integrated governance programming in line with UNDP's Strategic Plan and the Governance Global Programme.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing programme support to country offices in the region on governance issues, including Anticipatory, Adaptive and Agile Governance (AAAG), Governance of Public Goods and Services, Local and Multi-level Governance, Policy Reforms, SDG 16, inclusive participation, etc.
  • Ensuring policy and programme coherence at the regional level across the 4 outcomes of the Governance Global programme and the broader priorities of the Governance, Rule of Law and Peacebuilding Hub.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of integrated portfolios that respond to emerging socio-economic and political multi-dimensional crises at national and sub-national level, and providing policy advisory and programming services at the request of the Country Offices.

As a Global Governance Specialist, you will also be responsible for promoting and supporting the mainstreaming of governance in GPN teams at regional and country office levels, as well as identifying and supporting innovative approaches to foster sustainable peace and the social contract through inclusive participation, collaboration between public and private stakeholders, and trust in institutions at national and local level.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional work experience on governance, including leading teams, providing policy and programme advice on governance areas in different development settings.
  • An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in public administration, international development, political sciences, law, business administration, development economics, or related disciplines.
  • Excellent negotiating, writing and communication skills, as well as team leadership capacities and proven ability to mobilize support from a wide range of partners.

We offer a competitive salary of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on your qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
