About the Role

We are seeking a talented Cloud Software Engineer to join our LXD team at Canonical. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and documenting system-level Go code.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implement System-Level Code: You will be responsible for designing and implementing system-level Go code to support the development of LXD, a modern system container and virtual machine manager.
  • Model Data and Design Database Schema: You will model data, design database schema, and implement data storage in a dqlite (SQL) database.
  • Maintain Code Quality: You will maintain code quality through static analysis, unit, and system tests.
  • Collaborate with the Team: You will collaborate proactively with a distributed team to discuss ideas and find good solutions.
Requirements
  • Programming Experience: You have experience programming in Go and C.
  • Networking and Storage Knowledge: You are knowledgeable in networking and storage technologies.
  • Cloud Computing Experience: You have experience with two or more of: cloud computing, virtualisation, containers, distributed systems, open source community.
  • Soft Skills: You are curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.
